About Gonçalo
Gonçalo is a partner in the Banking and Finance and Capital Markets practices and has 15 years' experience. He specialises in advising leading Portuguese and international banks, other financial institutions and asset managers on debt capital markets transactions.
His experience includes structured finance transactions, particularly securitisations across a wide range of asset classes, as well as CDOs, CLOs and equity-linked notes. He also advises on EMTN programmes, covered bonds, standalone Eurobonds and commercial paper programmes.
Gonçalo also has extensive experience in derivatives and in regulatory matters affecting the asset management industry.
Gonçalo has also advised on significant ECM transactions, including takeovers, as well as a number of distressed debt transactions.
Before joining PLMJ, he worked at another leading Portuguese law firm and gained valuable international experience through secondments to the Capital Markets department of Simmons & Simmons and the Fixed Income Division of Morgan Stanley's Legal Department, both in London.
Gonçalo holds a law degree from NOVA School of Law, where he also lectures. He is also qualified in England and Wales and has been a member of the Law Society of England and Wales since 2007.
